Even though the weather is warming up in Texas, I still love a good bowl of soup. My husband made a delicious bowl of bean soup last week. Here is the recipe:
-1 1/2- 2 cups of beans and put in pressure cooker( you can also use can beans)
-stir fry 1/4 onion in coconut oil and set aside
-cut about 3-4 tomatoes and set aside
-cut and wash about 2 cups of cilantro
-once the beans are done in the pressure cooker, drain about half of the water and keep the rest for broth
-add the onions, tomatoes and cilantro to the beans
– If you like an extra kick add some crushed black pepper to the beans

What do you like in your bean soup?? I would love to hear what recipes you have.

Yoga and going out of my comfort zone- Week 5 of Wild Workout Wednesday linkup

Welcome to Week 5 of the Wild Workout Wednesday!!  To add your post to the linkup click on the blue box below and for instructions on the linkup click here.  Be sure you grab our badge from my sidebar and link it back in your blog post.

This year I’m all about trying new things and going out of my comfort zone. I have decided to start practicing yoga about 1-2 times a week. I have been doing this since January and I love it! I have been participating in 30 day challenges on Instagram. You can check out some of my poses on my instagram page (badge on sidebar). Instagram challenges are great because you have the hosts teaching you how to do the moves and you can ask them any questions you have about the pose or yoga in general. I used to practice yoga in High School and college and I found out that I lost all of my flexibility. That’s ok, that is something I need to work on.

I currently lift weights and do cardio about 5 times a week but yoga is completely different. Yoga requires flexibility, lots of arm strength and endurance. I never believed people when they said that yoga is relaxing but now that I am doing it I feel so much more relaxed afterwards. We all can use about 20-30 min a few times a week to just sit, relax and close our eyes. If you are a beginner, there are many different websites online that can help you start and guide you through the process.

I also bought a few new yoga pants to practice in ( just for fun). I will use any excuse to buy new workout clothes (any type of clothes actually). I bought a few mermaid tights and a few others with bright and bold prints. There are a few things I would like to accomplish with yoga:

1. Increase my overall flexibility

2. Gain a lot of arm strength. My arms are very weak, probably the weakest part of my body.

3. My ultimate goal is to be able to do a one arm handstand.

Who is interested in yoga? I would love to hear your experiences with yoga in the comments below. 🙂

I love reading everyone’s posts each week and getting to know a little bit about my fellow bloggers. Can’t wait to read all of the posts this week! 🙂

I have been on a fruit kick lately and I love to mix it up by making smoothies. You can make this smoothie with pretty much any kind of fruit but I used a mango, blueberries and strawberries. This is a very easy and quick recipe.

1 mango

Handful of blueberries

Handful of strawberries

Almond milk

1. Cut the mango in slices and blend with 1 tbsp of almond milk

2. Blend the blueberries and strawberries separately (without and liquid)

3. Place mango, blueberries and strawberries in 3 separate bowls.

4. With a spoon place the blended mango in a glass, then repeat with the blueberries and strawberries

5. Do not pour into glass if you want the rainbow effect. If you pour the colors will bleed together.

Tip: Chill fruit before you blend it for a delicious chilled smoothie Enjoy!!

Leave a message below in the comments if you try this recipe. What types of smoothies do you like to make?? I would love to hear!

I have recently been able to cut out my daily supplements and get my daily dose of dense nutrition from a shake that I normally eat for lunch.  For a busy mom spending time in the kitchen is not always possible.  I love that I can blend this shake is 2 min and my lunch is ready!  Shakeology allows me to get my daily servings of fruits, veggies, carbs, protein, etc. This shake has CURED all of my stomach issues that I have been experiencing since I was about 10 years old.  I had horrible reflux/acid problems most of my life. In the beginning I was able to control it by eliminating certain types of foods from my diet.  It eventually got so bad I had to get on strong prescription medication.  Over the years I have tried countless natural remedies because I was trying to avoid pills.  I like to go the more natural route for these types of things.  NOTHING I tried worked.  So I eventually said the pills are my only choice.  I found shakeology about 7 months ago and I decided to try it.  If I didn’t like it after the first 30 days, I could get my money back.  What did I have to lose?

After taking the shake for about a week, my stomach started to feel better.  I decided to start taking my pills every other day and test my stomach.  Eventually I stopped my pills completely and I just take the shake every day now.  Shakeology is now my medicine for my stomach.  This shake is Amazing and it works.  I went out of town for 6 days a few months ago and I forgot to bring my shake with me.  After the 2nd day of not drinking it I felt horrible.  As soon as I got home I started drinking it again and my stomach was back to normal.  I’m not the only person that has had success with Shakeology.  I know of many other people that have benefited from this shake.  The ingredients in Shakeology are amazing:

More than 70 super-nutritious ingredients.

  • Proteins, Vitamins, and Minerals – to help reduce hunger andfood cravings.
  • Antioxidants and Phytonutrients – to helpdetoxify and protectthe body against free radical damage.
  • Adaptogen Herbs – to helpincrease energy and combat stress.
  • Prebiotics, Probiotics, Fiber, and Digestive Enzymes – toaid digestion and promote regularity.

This shake is great for your overall health.  What do you have to lose?  If you don’t like it, you can get your money back in 30 days.  Feel free to leave any questions you have in the comments section below.

Have a great day!

Wild Workout Wednesday Week #2: Four Fun Facts About Me

It’s that time again for our Wild Workout Wednesday linkup!  To add your post to the linkup click on the blue box below and for instructions please click here.  As always, the topic is optional.  I’m going to give you some facts about myself and hopefully you can learn a little bit about me. J

  1. I am an only child– Eventhough I’m an only child, I never felt lonely because I have a HUGE extended family. I am very close to my cousins and I think of them as my siblings.  When we were younger my cousins used to come and spend some time with me over the summer break.
  2. I loved watching the TV show Sons of Anarchy- I’m embarrassed to admit this but I used to watch it very week with my husband.  Those of you who know me know that I don’t watch shows like that.  I think I enjoyed the suspense and the twists and turns of the show.
  3. I have over 200 family members in my hometown- My mom’s dad was the oldest of 12 children. Out of those 12, nine of them and their families live in my hometown.  I LOVE having a huge family.  We are always celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, etc. together.  I love being around a lot of people and chatting with everyone!
  4. I love the color pink- I am very girly (I love makeup and fashion). I guess you could say I love fitness, fashion and makeup. J  I think pink is a fun color and it reminds me of a field of flowers.

I would love to hear some facts about you!!  List a few below. 🙂

Friday Favorites

Welcome to my Friday favorites! I am always game for trying new things(fashion, fitness, food, etc) and I love to support anyone I can. I’m so excited that the weekend is here and it’s relaxation time!! Before I start my weekend, I would like to share a few of my favorite items I‘m loving right now.

I have been looking at Jala exercise clothes for a while now and I loved what I saw online.  I just bought my first outfit from there and I love it.  The pants fit very well and true to size and I LOVE the design.  The material is SO soft, which is very important to me.  It’s very comfortable to wear while working out.  I recommend this brand to everyone!

I love anything to do with fashion and fitness.  Jewelry and shoes are my weakness.  J  I really enjoy wearing big statement necklaces with little earrings or sometimes no earrings at all.  Amrita Singh has amazing jewelry.  You will definitely make a statement if you wear anything from them.  I bought this necklace a while ago but I just recently wore it out and I got so many compliments on it.  I actually wore it with a plain red blouse and I loved the look.  Isn’t it beautiful!!??

As I said one of my passions is fitness and I’m always looking for new types of workouts.  I recently discovered Max 30 with Shaun T as your trainer.  He is an amazing trainer and he really knows what he’s talking about.  J  I have just ended my 2nd week in this program and I’m seeing amazing results.  It is definitely a challenge and it’s a tough workout.  No Pain, No Gain!! 🙂 I feel great after I finish the workout.

Comment below and let me know what some of your Friday favorites are. Hope to hear from you soon! J

My Goals for 2015

We have two days left in 2014 and I have been thinking about my goals for 2015 for the past few days.  The year of 2014 was great for me but I know 2015 will be even better.  I have a lot to be thankful for this past year.  Most importantly, my little girl was born this year. I have had so much fun and crazy times with her.  She has been a blessing to our entire family.  I wouldn’t change it for the world!

I have also started my profession as a fitness and nutrition coach.  I absolutely love helping people reach their fitness goals.  I love to eat healthy and exercise on a regular basis.  My body feels energized and healthy when I take care of myself.  I also love seeing the joy and excitement from my clients when they reach their goals.

The following are my goals for 2015:

1. Get at least 6 hours of sleep-  I know we are supposed to get 8-10 hours of sleep but five to six hours is the most consecutive sleep I can get with a little baby. I also need to prioritize my time a little better during the day. If I get more done during the day I will not have to stay up late after my baby girl goes to bed.

2. I need to drink more water- I am so busy during the day, I forget to drink water sometimes. I can definitely feel when I am dehydrated. I feel less energetic, hungry and fatigued. I feel much better when I drink enough water throughout the day. I am going to make it a goal to drink one huge glass of water with every meal.

3. Meal prep more often- It’s no secret that eating healthy can sometimes require you to spend a little more time in the kitchen. We are all busy and we don’t have much time to spend in the kitchen. A solution to this problem would be to meal prep at least once a week. I do meal prep sometimes but not every week. My goal is to meal prep every week. When I don’t prepare meals ahead of time I find myself not eating as healthy as I should. I am going to set aside every Sunday as my day to prep meal

4. Help more people reach their fitness goals As a fitness coach I love helping people reach their goals and seeing them succeed. I have gone through my own physical transformation and I know how tough it can be. I find that people are more likely to achieve their fitness goals when they have someone helping them and encouraging them along the way.

I would like to wish you and your family a Happy and successful New Year!  Comment below with some of your goals for 2015.  I would love to hear from you!

Average workout vs awesome workout

Who’s ready to link up with The Fit Switch and Jill Conyers?? I love meeting new bloggers every week through the link up.

The way I feel after and during the workout is what defines an average  vs an awesome workout.  Nutrition is very important for overall health and daily functioning to me.  I love to eat clean because it makes me feel healthy and full of energy.  In addition to eating clean I love drinking shakeology.  Shakeology is not just a protein shake, it has many other benefits. It has antioxidants, probiotics, prebiotics, amino and Jill, digestive enzymes, adaptogens, and phytonutrients , all coming from over 70 of the worlds natural superfoods and preserved to keep the nutritional integrity for bioavailable absorption in your body.  Shakeology is also 100% natural.  Shakeology has also completely cured my severe stomach issues.  I am no longer on medication, I just drink my shakeology once a day.  After drinking this shake everyday and eating clean,  I have excess amounts of energy to workout and I feel great after I’m done.

I notice that if I eat junk food I feel very heavy, bloated and weighed down.  Junk food contains a lot of sugar.  It immediately raises your blood sugar and you will get a quick burst of energy.  You will also crash very quickly causing a drop in energy levels.  Junk food also causes a lot of gastrointestinal issues causing you to feel sick.  A lot of moving and jumping up and down will cause discomfort.

I am currently working out to the T25 DVD by Shaun T.  I am in the last round which means that it is mostly weights.  I just had a baby about 7 months ago and I haven’t lifted much weights, I’ve been doing mostly cardio.  This is actually a challenge for me and it feels great.  I don’t consider it an effective workout unless I feel challenged and sore after I’m done.  I love the feeling after you workout and your muscles are sore and you can’t move.   I love this workout because the weights aren’t making me bulky, I’m becoming leaner.  I’m starting to see definition all throughout my body and I’m seeing definition in my abs for the first time EVER!

What is your favorite type of workout??
